The article reports that private military contractors harm the counterinsurgency effort of the U.S. military in Iraq, in both the tactical and strategic levels. Private military contractors have also created a dependency on the private marketplace that creates vulnerabilities. It is pointed out that the private job of military contractors are different from the overall operational goals. It is also indicated that contractors have been involved in a serious pattern of abuses, such as indiscriminate firing at civilians.
