AbstractEcosystems, as communities of independent yet interdependent entities, generate distinct system outputs and associated values. The eSports and traditional sports ecosystems have significance and value in comparison to each other since they both develop and grow based on the sports orientation. This article has developed a sports-based interpretative framework to analyse and compare the current states and trends of these two systems, incorporating in-depth interviews with various stakeholders affected by the eSports ecosystem. I maintain that traditional sports ecosystems centre around human rights and needs in their development, whereas eSports ecosystems primarily focus on entertainment and lack the principles of equality fundamental to modern sports. Consequently, it is imperative not to label the eSports ecosystem merely as a form of sports, and blurred boundaries may foster the uncontrolled spread of guided behaviours. Irrespective of the ecosystem type, it should be a process of constructing meaning. Efforts must be exerted to clearly delineate boundaries and formulate systematic tendency guidelines, with the objective of redefining eSports as fundamentally gaming-oriented and maintaining a healthy balance between mind and body.
