The search for the good cannot be conceived except as a relational practice. If taking care of one's existence is taking care to seek the good according to which to realize oneself, and since there is no man except in relation to others, because every being is always a con-being, then looking for the good is good with others. Starting from the category of social friendship referred to in the Encyclical All Brothers, the author of this article deals with the theme of fragility, care and the common good understood as mutual responsibility. Far away are the times when human nature was considered an unmistakable organism. Discussions on whether or not to take action in order to treat diseases with genetic engineering procedures always find whom is for and whom is against, with the sole assumption of the will to defend their own opinion. You claim the right of choice to do what you want about your body. But is the claim of a right based on the respect of a duty? The duty asks for responsibility. Underrating the duties means having an endless conflict between rights. In today's reality there aren't yet rules that absolutely guarantee the right: justice does not live with direct experience. After a philosophical brief introduction about the meaning of human justice, the particular notion of "justice" is introduced as value according to Bernard Lonergan. Moreover, there are the acquisitions of neuroscience about the neural correlates both of the voluntary actions and of the moral judgments and of the discussions arising from such experimental results. In particular, it puts emphasis on the way in which the notion of human justice is linked to the existential horizon of the subject, and on how this notion is enriched dynamically by new meanings that are acquired by the subject during the history of his/her personal experience.
