The effect of quench frequency on 35Cl and 127I nuclear quadrupole resonances of some halogen compounds has been investigated at various temperatures using pulsed type oscillators. The observed signal-to-noise ratio of the nuclear signal versus quench frequency curve for each compound studied shows a number of maxima which can be explained in terms of nuclear induction phenomena.

The motion of polar molecules as solute in a non-polar solvent, under the action of a non-uniform electric field, has received little attention. The theory of such motion has been developed and an experimental concentration separation of 25% achieved between p-nitroaniline and carbon tetrachloride from solution.

Dielectric relaxation measurements on 2,4,6-tri-t-butylphenol, 2,4,6- tri-bromophenol, 2,4,6-trichloroanisole, 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, acetophenone, 2,4,6-trimethylacetophenone, 2,4,6-trimethyl-1,3- diacetylbenzene, and 1,4-diacetyldurene, as solutes in benzene or carbon tetrachloride, are reconcilable with the average conformations deduced previously1-3 for those molecules from experimental molar Kerr constants and dipole moments.
