The new Ford Fiesta ST, a modern supermini car, has excellent steering and is an affordable, comfortable and easily tamed car with great torque. The car is powered by Ford's relatively new Duratec 1999cc petrol engine, which developed 148bhp at 6000rpm.

Ford Motor Company Ltd. will introduce the Fusion 'urban activity vehicle' in the United Kingdom in summer 2002. The car, which is based on the Ford Fiesta, is targeted to young families. It features more room for people and cargo and sits higher on its suspension to provide extra presence and high driving position. Ford plans to launch two other cars based on the Fiesta, a three-door Fiesta and the StreetKa.

Plastic-bodied Quadri-cycles are due to be launched in the UK as highly economic alternatives to cars with particular appeal for city driving. The Quadri-cycles look like miniature cars and are capable of speeds up to 46mph. The 400cc diesel engines have output of 5.6bhp with fuel efficiency of up to 85mpg. The heavy Quadri-cycles weigh 400kg, can have four seats and a 20bhp engine, with drivers required to hold a motorcycle license. The light version weighs up to 350kg, has two seats and a maximum speed of 28mph, with drivers needing only a moped license.
