Automated modularization for precast elements from additively manufactured formwork Current developments in research and practice show the expansion of existing production concepts in precast concrete construction through digitally controlled and largely automated manufacturing processes. Precise, adaptive, and individual production enables a high degree of differentiation for building components, making highly efficient and load‐adapted structures accessible for precast concrete construction. While progress in fabrication is demonstrated by numerous projects in research and industry, related planning tools are less developed. To exploit the full potential of digital fabrication processes, computational planning methods are required that allow the flexible adaptation of component geometries and enable production‐oriented planning. The modularization of concrete structures has to meet multi‐criteria requirements both from the point of load‐bearing capacity and the fabrication of each individual module. This paper presents an agent‐based planning approach, which addresses, in particular, the additive manufacturing of formwork as a complement to existing production concepts. The geometrical basics for the simulation‐based decomposition building elements are presented and integrated into a continuous planning process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
