Abstract

Results reveal that 14 acidic amino acid residues in the nucleotide binding sites of P-glycoprotein are conserved among the ABC transporters. Data indicate that a cluster of three residues within and adjacent to the Walker B motif are mutation sensitive and play a role in the ATP hydrolysis.
