Abstract

Research has been conducted on the cytochromes c (sub)3, periplasmic proteins isolated from Desulfovibrio spp. The comparison between the oxidized and reduced structures of the cytochrome c (sub)3 isolated from Desulfovibrio vulgaris (Hildenborough) has been carried out and the results are presented.

Abstract

A new study investigates the structural framework for the pH dependence of the redox potential in the tetrahemic cytochrome c3 of Desulfovibrio vulgaris. Lysine 45, located near the propionates of heme 1, is mutated by uncharged residues, glutamine, threonine and leucine. It is shown that residue 45 is involved in the redox-Bohr effect in tetraheme cytochrome c3 of Desulfovibrio vulgaris.

Abstract

The isolation and biochemical and structural characterization of the monoheme cytochrome c from Rhodothermus marinus at 1.23 Angstrom are described. The structural and amino acid sequence comparison has shown Rhodothermus marinus cytochrome c as the first characterized member of a new class of C-type cytochromes.

Abstract

The studies about the two putative cobaltochelatase genomes, DVU0650 and DVU1365 from Desulfovibrio vulgaris Hildenborough, that share a significant degree of amino acid sequence similar to Salmonella typhimurium CbiK is reported. The cloning and characterization of the isolated enzymes provided insight into the role of these proteins and their involvement in modified tetrapyrrole biosynthesis in a Desulfovibrio species.
