After fieldwork in different regions of Pakistan, two lichen species were established as new for the country: Aspicilia persica (Müll. Arg.) Sohrabi and Chlorangium sphaerothallinum (J. Steiner) S.Y. Kondr., Gromakova & Khodos. They were discovered in Darel Valley, Gilgit Baltistan and Killa Saifullah, Muslim Bagh, Balochistan. Each species is briefly described, with phylogenetic analysis, habitat, chemistry and morphology. These collections suggest a high potential for finding more unreported lichen species in Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
