Background: To assess pregnancy outcomes in women with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) reinfection. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study that included pregnant women who contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) once or twice during pregnancy and who gave birth between 1 October 2022 and 15 August 2023 in Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital (Shanghai, China). We collected their clinical data and compared the frequency of adverse pregnancy outcomes between the reinfection group and the primary infection group, such as preterm birth, fetal growth restriction (FGR), hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), common pregnancy-related conditions, birth weight, and neonatal unit admission. Results: We observed a 7.7% reinfection rate among the 1,405 women who contracted COVID-19 during pregnancy. There were no significant differences in the frequency of preterm birth, FGR, HDP, other common pregnancy-related conditions, birth weight, or rate of neonatal unit admission between the reinfection and single infection groups. All our participants were unvaccinated, and all had mild symptoms. Conclusion: Our study showed no significant association between SARS-CoV-2 reinfection and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Purpose: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) negatively affects the quality of life of pregnant women and is influenced by several factors. Research to date treats pregnant women with gestational diabetes as a homogeneous group based on their quality of life. We attempted to identify subgroups based on self-reported quality of life and explored variables associated with subgroups. Methods: From September 1, 2020 to November 29, 2020, pregnant women with GDM from two hospitals in Guangdong Province were selected as subjects by convenience sampling method. Medical records provided sociodemographic data, duration of GDM, pregnancy status, and family history of diabetes. Participants completed validated questionnaires for quality of life, anxiety and depression. Latent profile analysis was used to identify profiles of quality of life in pregnant women with GDM, and then a mixed regression method was used to analyze the influencing factors of different profiles. Results: A total of 279 valid questionnaires were collected. The results of the latent profile analysis showed that the quality of life of pregnant women with GDM could be divided into two profiles: C1 "high worry-high support" group (75.6%) and C2 "low worry-low support" group (24.4%). Daily exercise duration and depression degree are negative influencing factors, making it easier to enter the C1 group (p < 0.05). Disease duration and family history of diabetes are positive influencing factors, making it easier to enter the C2 group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The quality of life of pregnant women with GDM had obvious classification characteristics. Pregnant women with exercise habits and depression are more likely to enter the "high worry-high support" group, and health care providers should guide their exercise according to exercise guidelines during pregnancy and strengthen psychological intervention. Pregnant women with a family history of diabetes and a longer duration of the disease are more likely to fall into the "low worry-low support" group. Background: The relationship of maternal HBeAg and infants' response to hepatitis B vaccine remains controversial. This study aims to observe the dynamic changes in infant birth HBV markers and study the time-varying effects of maternal HBeAg on vaccination response of infants born to women with chronic HBV infection. Methods: 3163 infants born to HBsAg positive mothers including 1737 with maternal HBeAg positive in group A and 1426 negative in group B were enrolled eventually. Demographic information and laboratory tests were collected at birth, 7-12th and 24th month. The dynamic changes of infant HBV markers and HBsAb titers at different time points were compared between the two groups. Results: The infant HBV markers at birth displayed different modes. During the follow-up, we observed a significant downward trend in the positive rates of HBsAg, HBeAg, HBeAb and HBcAb. The HBsAg of two groups switched to negative at 7–12 months and HBeAg in Group A became negative at 24 months. The HBsAb titers of the infants in the two groups were 576.91(192.8–1000.0) vs 719.67(208.1–1000.0) at 7–12 months (Z = -3.049, P = 0.002) and 783.5(227.8–1000.0) vs 891.4(234.0–1000.0) at 24 months (Z = -0.853, P = 0.394). High HBV DNA viral load (OR 1.260, 95% CI 1.139–1.395, P < 0.001) and maternal HBeAg level (OR 1.003, 95% CI 1.002–1.003, P < 0.001) were associated with the higher HBeAg positive rate of infants. Conclusions: Maternal HBeAg did affect the infants' immune response to vaccination and reduce the anti-response at 7-12th month temporarily, but these influences were negligible by 24th months after birth, which proved that the maternal HBeAg would not induce immune tolerance of infants from a long-term perspective. Background: Low back pain during pregnancy affects the normal daily activities of pregnant women to a certain extent. Current studies have shown that Kinesio Taping (KT) may be a treatment for low back pain during pregnancy, but there is still a lack of key evidence. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of KT in the treatment of low back pain during pregnancy.Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, Scopus, Embase, Wanfang Data, CNKI, and VIP databases were searched to collect randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of the efficacy of KT intervention on low back pain in women during pregnancy. The retrieval time limit is from the establishment of the database to April 2021. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted the data, and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.3 software.Results: A total of 7 RCTs were included, including 444 patients. Meta-analysis results showed that: Compared with the control group, KT intervention could significantly improve low back pain and dysfunction, VAS score (- 1.62, 95%CI - 2.08 to - 1.16, P < 0.00001, I2 = 77%), RMDQ score (- 1.00, 95%CI - 1.54 to - 0.46, P = 0.0003, I2 = 80%); The results of the meta-analysis of the subgroup showed that compared with the control group, the KT intervention was less than or equal to 1 week, and the waist pain and dysfunction were improved, with statistically significant differences. The difference in the improvement of low back pain was statistically significant after KT intervention for more than 1 week, but there was no statistically significant difference in RMDQ score (- 1.25, 95%CI - 2.66 to 0.15, P = 0.08, I2 =77%). Compared with the control group, KT intervention improved low back pain in the second and third trimesters, and the difference was statistically significant.Conclusion: KT has a positive effect on the improvement of low back pain during pregnancy, KT intervention can significantly improve pregnant women's low back pain and dysfunction problems, improve the quality of life. Background: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is characterized by impairment of ovarian function on a continuum before the age of 40 years. POI is affected by multiple factors. Considering new insights from recent gut microbiome studies, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between gut microbial community structure and POI.Methods: Subjects were recruited at the Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital. Fecal microbial community profiles of healthy women (n = 18), women with POI (n = 35) were analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing based on Illumina NovaSeq platform.Results: Compared to the controls, the serum levels of FSH, LH, T and FSH/LH ratio significantly increased in women with POI, whereas E2 and AMH decreased significantly. Higher weighted UniFrac value was observed in POI women compared with healthy women. Phylum Firmicutes, genera Bulleidia and Faecalibacterium were more abundant in healthy women, while phylum Bacteroidetes, genera Butyricimonas, Dorea, Lachnobacterium and Sutterella enriched significantly in women with POI. Moreover, these alterations of the gut microbiome in women with POI were closely related to FSH, LH, E2, AMH level and FSH/LH ratio.Conclusions: Women with POI had altered microbial profiles in their gut microbiome, which were associated with serum hormones levels. Background: Partner infection is a significant factor in preventing mother-to-child syphilis transmission. We compared pregnancy outcomes between syphilis discordant and syphilis concordant couples.Methods: We conducted a retrospective study among 3076 syphilis-positive women who received syphilis screening together with their partners during pregnancy. Multivariate analysis was used to explore risks for abnormal outcomes in objects correcting for the major covariate factors. Adjusted odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated to compare pregnancy outcomes between syphilis concordant and syphilis discordant couples.Results: Overall, 657 of the 3076 women were diagnosed with gestational syphilis and had a syphilis-positive partner, giving a partner concordance prevalence of 21.36%. Women in concordant couples were more likely to have higher parity, more children, late antenatal care and syphilis screening, a lower proportion of latent syphilis, and elevated serologic titers than women in discordant couples (P < 0.01 for all). Totally, 10.08% of women had adverse pregnancy outcomes. Multivariate analysis showed partners' syphilis infection (ORadj = 1.44, 95% CI: 1.10-1.89), untreated pregnancy syphilis (ORadj = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.15-2.43), and higher maternal serum titers (> 1:8) (ORadj = 1.53, 95% CI: 1.17-2.00) increased the risks of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Concordance was associated with increased risk for stillbirth (ORadj = 2.86, 95%CI:1.36-6.00), preterm birth (PTB) (ORadj = 1.38,95%CI:1.02-1.87) and low birth weight (LBW) (ORadj = 1.55, 95%CI:1.13-2.11) compared with discordance. Even among treated women, concordance was associated with increased risk for stillbirth (ORadj = 3.26, 95%CI:1.45-7.31) and LBW (ORadj = 1.52, 95%CI:1.08-2.14). Among women with one treatment course, the risks for PTB(ORadj = 1.81, 95%CI:1.14-2.88) and LBW(ORadj = 2.08, 95%CI:1.28-3.38)were also higher among concordant couples than discordant couples. Nevertheless, there were no significant differences between concordant and discordant couples in risks of stillbirth (ORadj = 2.64, 95% CI: 0.98-7.05),PTB (ORadj = 1.15, 95% CI: 0.76-1.74), and LBW(ORadj = 1.21, 95% CI: 0.78-2.02) among women with two treatment courses.Conclusion: Male partner coinfection increased the risks for stillbirth, PTB and LBW, particularly when gestational syphilis treatment was suboptimal. Background: There is an increasing prevalence of women who tend to delay childbirth until a very advanced age. However, there is sparse data regarding very advanced maternal age (vAMA) and the interplay between vAMA and assisted reproductive technology (ART) on adverse perinatal outcomes. The study aimed to assess the risk of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes of vAMA women (≥43 years), and to investigate the effect of maternal age on adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes in ART pregnancies.Methods: Data was obtained from a population-based retrospective cohort of women who delivered in Ontario, Canada, between April 1st, 2012 and March 31st, 2015. The adjusted relative risks (ARR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes were estimated by using multivariate log-binomial regression models among age groups. All models were stratified by the utilization of ART (ART and spontaneous conceptions).Results: Women at vAMA had a higher risk of composite outcome comprised of preeclampsia, intrauterine growth retardation, stillbirth, and placental abruption than the younger counterparts (ARR = 1.38, 95% CI: 1.23-1.55 compared to mothers aged 20-34; ARR = 1.26, 95% CI: 1.12-1.42 compared to mothers aged 35-42). Increased risk of the primary outcome in ART compared to spontaneous conception was only observed in women aged 20-34 years (ARR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.14-1.35). For women conceived with ART, the risk for the primary outcome significantly increased in women at vAMA (ARR = 1.29, 95% CI: 1.01-1.65 compared to mothers aged 20-34; ARR = 1.36, 95% CI: 1.06-1.74 compared to mothers aged 35-42).Conclusion: Women at vAMA have higher risks of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Although the utilization of ART may carry an independent role for adverse perinatal outcomes, it does not further enhance the adverse effect of vAMA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
