The article focuses on medical ethics regarding the role of patient consent in the use of audio-visual recordings of a patient for teaching purposes. The difficulty of universally applying the general rule of patient anonymity is discussed, and it is argued that any use of patient information without consent is disrespectful of patient autonomy. Caution is called for when deciding whether to share patient information.
