The article describes the case of metformin-induced lactic acidosis after dehydration in a 49-year old female patient with type 2 diabetes. It references several studies on the efficacy of metformin, an oral antihyperglycaemic drug. It details the patient's other underlying medical conditions and treatment regimens. Side effects of combination treatment with metformin and angiotensin II receptor antagonists are noted. Also discussed is recommended critical care management of the patient.
