The article discusses the practice of maintaining a list of all the books one has read. It is noted that this can be especially useful for professional librarians, who often find themselves called upon to recommend books to library patrons. Electronic methods, such as web sites which enable book lists to be linked to images of cover art, are discussed. The traditional pencil-and-paper approach is said to be nearly as effective, at least for those whose handwriting is legible.
