Delfabbro and Thrupp (2003) developed the Gambling Attitude Scale (GAS), a 9 item test to measure gambling's economic perception with adolescents. The aim of the present paper was to measure the psychometric properties of the Italian version. The scale was administered to 981 high school students (64% Males; Mean Age = 16.57). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis revealed the two-factor structure (Unprofitability and Profitability) in line with the original scale. The reliability coefficients of the scale and subscales were adequate. Criterion validity was assessed considering the relationship between GAS scores (as well as subscale scores), gambling behaviour indices, and sensation seeking measure. The overall findings of the present study provide evidences that the Italian version of the GAS is a reliable and valid instrument to measure adolescents' economic opinions on gambling. The Job Satisfaction Scale of Warr, Cook and Wall (1979) is widely used in studies within the scope of organizational psychology. However, the factor structure was not sufficiently explored (solutions: one factor, two factors, three factors). The present study aims to analyse the adaptation of this scale to the Portuguese language. The sample of the present study consists of 632 participants. Confirmatory factor analysis supports a hierarchical model of three factors of job satisfaction, in terms of adequacy coefficients of the model. The results support the use three factor model. Job satisfaction is widely important concept commonly used by investigators in different scientific areas. It's important to have a very used questionnaire available in Portuguese language, that could be practically used by Portuguese native speakers. A way to empirically have a real notion of job satisfaction levels of the employees is measuring it; having a validated instrument allow its use in Portuguese language. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current study explored the psychometric properties of the Italian versions of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-17 and UWES-9). In particular, the alms were: (I) to evaluate Us factorial validity, in which we compared the fit of the one-factor model to that of the three-factor model ous versions of the UWES; (2) to inspect the scale's reliability through Cronbach's alpha and inter-item correlation; and, (i) to classify teachers on the basis of their work engagement levels, using cluster-analyses, and to determine whether engaged teachers differ from their less engaged colleagues in terms of various outcomes correlates. Confirmatory factor analysis suported the hypothesized three-factor structure - vigour, dedication, absorption - of both UWES scales. However, while the three-factor structure of the UWES-17 did not show a good approximation to the data, the UWES-9 showed an acceptable fit. Results of cluster analysis revealed that teachers who feel more engaged show higher levels of positive attitudes compared with those who are less engaged, To sum up, our findings showed that the short UWES can be used in Italy among schoolteachers for assessing and monitoring levels of work engagement. Introduction: Flow at work is short-term peak experience characterized by absorption, work enjoyment and intrinsic work motivation. The present study aims to provide a first psychometric evaluation of the Italian version of the WOLF scale developed by Bakker (2008). Methods: To assess the factorial validity of the Italian scale it was first performed an exploratory factor analysis (N = 147) and then a confirmatory factor analysis (N = 129). Both the considered samples are heterogeneous. Results: The exploratory factor analysis showed a good three-factor structure, in line with Bakker's results. Moreover, the confirmatory factor analysis confirmed this structure and the distinction between the three dimensions of flow at work. Conclusions: Results suggest that the Italian version of the WOLF scale can be reliably used in the measurement of flow at work, allowing detecting the optimal experience at work within both the basic and the applied Italian research. Alcohol outcome expectancies are variables which can aid the understanding of a person's motivation to drink and can help explain drinking behaviour. The Alcohol Expectancy Questionnaire (AEQ) is one of the most widely used instruments for assessing alcohol expectancies. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the psychometric proprieties of the Revised AEQ on a sample of 280 undergraduate students (76.5% female; mean age = 21.98, SD = 5.54). Because of the equivocal evidence for the original structure underlying the AEQ, a Revised version (AEQ-R) was tested based on a theoretical factor structure. Confirmatory factor analyses were performed. Results confirm the revised structure and the hypothesized factors: Social Coping, Social Enhancement, Personal Coping, and Personal Enhancement. Correlations with drinking indices confirmed concurrent validity. Despite this Revised version is not as widely used in the literature as the original questionnaire, the results of the present study demonstrate the robustness of the AEQ-R and its usefulness for assessing alcohol expectancies and as instrument for preliminary assessment and evaluation of prevention programs for alcohol use. Background: compulsive shopping consists of repetitive impulsive and excessive buying, leading to personal and family distress (Billieux et al., 2008). In the present research, the factor structure of the Compulsive Buying Scale (Valence et al., 1988) in an Italian sample was assessed in order to out- line an Italian measurement scale for compulsive shopping. Methods: 551 subjects (M = 146, F = 405) took part in the study by online sampling. Confirmatory Factor Analyses were performed; ANOVA analyses were conducted in order to analyse the socio-demographics differences on CBS data. Results: The results of CFA show a second-order-factor solution of the Italian version of the Valence CBS. Conclusions: the present study confirms the internal validity of the Italian CBS. The article discusses the study that examines the structural and construct validity of the Coping Strategies Questionnaire for Teachers (CSQ-T). It notes that occupational stress is usually connected with employees' quality of life, particularly the teachers, and that they are faced with problems with students and the school structure. Several methodologies such as confirmatory factor analysis used in the study are also tackled.
