Abstract

The article presents the author's comments on the paper "Ideology, Hegemony and Empiricism: Compliance Theories of Regulation," by Frank Pearce and Steve Tombs. According to the author, Pearce and Tombs believe in an inherent contradiction between the profit-making practices of a competitive organization and its social responsibility. They also misunderstand the idea of so-called compliance and sanctioning strategy.
