- Seven patients with solitary or bilateral renal carcinoma were treated surgically over a 7-year period. Ten kidneys were operated upon, 3 by in situ partial nephrectomy, 3 by autotransplantation following bench surgery, 3 by radical nephrectomy and one by simple nephrectomy. Four of the 6 patients treated by partial nephrectomy are alive without disease with an average follow-up of 3½ years. By detailed selective renal arteriography we can usually predict pre-operatively the appropriate operation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
