Abstract

The article focuses on the tropical cyclone heat potential (TCHP), the excess heat content within the water column between the depth of the 26 degree Celsius isotherm and the sea surface. Topics mentioned include the association between the TCHP and intensity changes of tropical cyclone (TC), the use of satellite altimetry observations to assess spatial and temporal variability of climate, and the two factors that show the variability such as the TCHP anomalies and the differences in TCHP.
