Abstract: Reaction of several hydrazinobenzoquinolines with 1,3-diketones affords pyrazolylbenzoquinolines rather than the reported benzodiazepinoquinolines. The structural assignment is based upon NMR (1H and 13C) spectral data and an unambiguous synthesis.
