Abstract

The article presents the application on the generic name Erythemis Hagen, 1861, under Articles 23.9.3 and 81.1 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature for a group of common dragonflies in the New World. It discusses the proposals on the designation of Erythemis Hagen over Lepthemis Hagen (Insecta, Odonata), 1861, on names considered to be synonyms, on the inclusion of Lethemis Hagen on the Official List of Generic Names in Zoology, and the inclusion of peruviana Rambur, 1842 on the Official List of Specific Names in Zoology.
