The author discusses the application to preserve stability and universality of usage of the Archaeopteryx lithographica von Meyer, 1861 species to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. The author says that the Commission has set aside all previous type of fixations for the species and designated BMNH 37001 as the neotype at the Natural History Museum, London, England. The author adds that the species was received from Walter J. Bock and Paul Bühler on June 5, 2006.
