Benchmarking, or the practice of studying a competitor's management methods to improve business, is only 10% of the answer to the planning of improved productivity. After studying corporate practices, businesses must attack the other 90%, which involves changing corporate culture, business processes, philosophies, and communications. To effectively implement those changes, it is essential that those charged with such are also involved in the benchmarking process.
