This article discusses a case of cutaneous mucormycosis in a 66-year-old man who underwent renal transplantation. The patient developed a lesion on his forearm after scraping it on a metal garbage can lid prior to the transplant. Despite initial treatment for cellulitis, the lesion worsened, and a biopsy revealed invasive fungal elements suggestive of Mucorales. The patient was prescribed antifungal therapy and underwent surgical débridement. The article emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis and surgical intervention in treating cutaneous mucormycosis, as antifungal medications alone are often insufficient.
