An introduction to the thematic section is presented in which the authors discuss research practices of Canadian sociologists and scholars about committing sociology and topics including social phenomena, political correctness and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The article focuses on reconciliation is an ongoing process that starts and ends with the creation an maintenance of respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. It mentions individual perspectives as sociologists on what is missing and what consider to be important about pursuing reconciliation and universities must do better to educate students on racism and colonialism. It also mentions emotional work from non-Indigenous people.
