Bimetallic PdM (M = Ni, Co, Fe) nanoparticles were synthesized using butyllithium as a reductant, and were used to prepare Pd-MO/KIT-6 catalysts by appropriate oxidation and reduction treatments. These catalysts showed higher selectivity in the hydrogenation of p-chloronitrobenzene to p-chloroaniline than Pd/KIT-6. Relevant characterization was conducted using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, N adsorption-desorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, inductive coupled plasma emission spectrometer, and H temperature-programmed reduction. Bimetallic AuM (M = Ni, Co, Fe) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by reducing a mixture of Au and metal cations (Ni, Co, Fe) by butyllithium in the presence of oleylamine. AuM NPs were then deposited onto a commercial SiO support. The AuM/SiO samples were not particularly active in the catalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol unless they were converted into Au-MO/SiO after appropriate thermal treatment in air. The Au-MO/SiO catalysts showed good thermal stability and significantly higher p-nitrophenol conversions than Au/SiO. Relevant characterization was conducted employing X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The catalytic decomposition of CFC-12 (CCl2F2) in the presence of water vapor was investigated over a series of solid acids WO3/ZrO2. Compared with tungstic acid, ammonium metatungstate is a better source of tungsten oxide for the preparation of WO3/ZrO2 catalysts. CFC-12 decomposition activities of WO3/ZrO2 catalysts are in good agreement with their acidities. Enhancing the acidities of catalysts is favorable to increase their CFC-12 decomposition activities. WO3/ZrO2 catalysts calcined at higher temperature exhibit good catalytic activity and stability for the hydrolysis of CFC-12, and show better structural stability during the reaction.
