3. Enhanced Methanol Synthesis via CO2 Hydrogenation over ZnO/ZrO2 Catalysts by the Regulation of Precipitation Method.

Abstract

A series of ZnO/ZrO2 catalysts were synthesized by the precipitation method. The effect of different precipitation modes on the physicochemical properties of the ZnO/ZrO2 catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol was investigated. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption–desorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), temperature programmed desorption of CO2 (CO2-TPD), temperature programmed reduction of H2 (H2-TPR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results showed that the catalyst of ZnO/ZrO2 prepared by the concurrent precipitation method had more CO2 adsorption sites, resulting in its higher CO2 conversion. While the stepwise precipitation mode increased the surface oxygen content of ZnO/ZrO2, which enhanced the methanol selectivity. Overall, the ZnO/ZrO2 prepared by the concurrent precipitation mode exhibited a highly competitive efficacy for CO2 hydrogenation, giving a methanol selectivity of 81.4% with a CO2 conversion of 5.1% at 280 ℃ and 3 MPa, and the methanol yield reached 4.2%. Abstract

Effects of promoters such as zirconia and zinc oxide to copper catalysts have been studied in methanol steam reforming (MSR) reaction at 260 °C. The catalytic activity and stability of copper are improved by promoters, especially zirconia. The results of S BET and S Cu represent that both promoters can increase S BET of catalysts from 0.26 to 0.28–0.99 m2/g and S Cu of them from 0.13 to 0.21–0.25 m2/g and XRD further illustrate that they can stabilize the crystal size of copper in process of reduction and reaction. Besides, XPS results indicate that both ZnO and ZrO2 can stabilize Cu+ species and promote the catalytic activity for MSR. In addition, the rich surface hydroxyl species on ZrO2/Cu account for its superior catalytic performance to ZnO/Cu and Cu.

Abstract

Abstract: The effect of titanium promotion on the catalytic performance of Rh-Mn-Li catalyst supported on PVP-modified SiO2 for C2+ oxygenates synthesis from CO hydrogenation was investigated. The highest selectivity toward C2+ oxygenates (51.3%) was achieved over the RML/0.5Ti/SiO2 catalyst. Characterization results indicates that the addition of Ti promotes the adsorption of geminal CO and the formation of Rh+, which is favorable for the CO insertion into metal-CHx band, and finally increases the selectivity of C2+ oxygenates.Graphical Abstract: The effect of titanium promotion on the catalytic performance of Rh-Mn-Li catalyst supported on PVP-modified SiO2 for C2+ oxygenates synthesis from CO hydrogenation was investigated.
