The article discusses ways of developing self-authorship in college students, a capacity for questioning assumptions and remaining confident in ambiguous situations. The author contends that complex workplace environments and job demands call for a new approach to pedagogy in order to prepare students for post-college life. She references her own "Learning Partnerships Model" (LPM), a set of criteria for collaborative learning. Institutions mentioned as testing the models include Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech); University of Nevada, Las Vegas; and Miami University.
