Abstract
The article announces the calls for papers for the spring 2007 national meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) that will be held in March 25-29 in Chicago, Illinois. Some of the topics that will be published by the ACS include outcome of the convention, its technical program, and by-law governing the presentation of papers.

Abstract
The article highlights the 233rd American Chemical Society national meeting held in Chicago, Illinois in March 2007. More than 9,000 papers were presented at the conference. Some of the research presented were insect natural products, superoxide levels in the ocean, electrochromic sunglasses and organic synthesis with halides.
The article focuses on the reports of the National Research Council about the U.S. chemistry and chemical engineering problems at the American Chemical Society (ACS) national meeting in Chicago, Illinois. According to Charles P. Casey, former president of ACS, U.S. leadership in generating the most highly cited chemistry papers is decreasing. Sylvia T. Ceyer of Massachusetts Institute of Technology points out that funding for chemical research has been struggling to keep up with inflation.
