The article cites key research findings indicating a 0.8% decline in the greenhouse gas emissions of 15 countries in Western Europe that make up the original European Union between 2004 to 2005. This has resulted to total greenhouse gas emissions dropping to 1.5% below the 1990 levels among the Western European nations.
