A well-defined crystalline cyano-functionalized graphdiyne (CN-GDY) is synthesized at a liquid/liquid interface through alkyne–alkyne coupling reactions. The configurations and nanostructures of CN-GDY were well characterized by TEM, SEM, AFM, XPS, and Raman spectroscopy. A series of sulfide and sulfone substituted perylene diimides (PDIs) with different LUMO levels covering a range of 0.72 eV were synthesized through simple sulfur redox chemistry. We have designed and synthesized two porphyrin containing two-dimensional (2D) polymers based on the imine linkage. Both the 2D polymers are revealed to be 2D organic semiconductors with band gaps of around 1 eV. An l-histidine ester terminated bolaamphiphile (BolaHis) was found to form hydrogels and self-assemble into single-wall nanotubes and single molecular thick fibers triggered by proton and copper ions, respectively. We report the biomimetic synthesis of polyethylene glycol (PEG) grafted silica nanoplates templated by double hydrophilic PEG-b-poly-l-lysine diblock copolymers.
