We demonstrate for the first time the construction of a low background electrochemical biosensor with tandem signal amplification for sensitive microRNA assay based on target-activated catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) of heteroduplex-templated copper nanoparticles. We develop a substrate-free and label-free electrocatalysis-assisted biosensor for sensitive detection of microRNA using the iron-embedded nitrogen-rich carbon nanotubes (FeCN) as the catalytic elements. We demonstrate the zirconium ion-mediated assembly of a single quantum dot (QD)-based nanosensor for accurate detection of protein kinases (PKA) and polynucleotide kinases (PNK). This nanosensor is very sensitive with a detection limit of 8.82 × 10−4 U mL−1 for PKA and 1.40 × 10−5 U mL−1 for PNK. Moreover, it can be used to analyze the enzyme kinetic parameters and screen the inhibitors of PKA and PNK, with potential applications in drug discovery and clinical diagnosis. We demonstrate the construction of an aggregation-induced electrochemiluminescent (AIECL) sensor for glutathione (GSH) assay by integrating an aminal-linked covalent organic framework (A-COF) with manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanosheets. The AIECL of the A-COF is quenched by the MnO2 nanosheets via electrochemiluminescent resonance energy transfer (ERET) from the excited A-COF to MnO2. The presence of GSH can reduce the MnO2 nanosheets into Mn2+, restoring the AIECL emission of the A-COF. This AIECL sensor has the characteristics of fast response, high sensitivity, and good selectivity toward GSH, and it can accurately measure GSH in human serum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A thermally activated delayed fluorescence material 2,6-bis(9,9-diphenylacridin-10(9H)-yl)pyrazine was designed and synthesized. The twisted configuration made it possesses very small singlet–triplet splitting.
