Sensitive sensing of nitroaromatic compounds (NACs) is realized by using luminescent lanthanum-tricarboxytriphenylamine (La-TCA) nanosheets fabricated by a top-down sonication assisted strategy. The accessible Lewis base sites and electron-rich fluorophores on the surface of the La-TCA nanosheets enable them to interact with electron-deficient NACs, delivering multi-responsive behaviours (emission intensity quenching, wavelength red-shift and valley) for hydroxyl group NACs.

Here, we wrap Co3O4 nanoparticles with nitrogen-doped graphitic carbon nanofibers (Co3O4@NGFs) as a self-standing electrode for lithium-ion batteries. In this structure, graphitic carbon acts as a composite framework that enhances conductivity, accommodates volume expansion and increases contact with the electrolyte. Meanwhile, the porosity of Co3O4@NGFs not only facilitates rapid electron transfer, but also exposes more active sites for lithium storage.

Herein, a heterogeneous Pd catalyst was prepared by embedding Pd nanoparticles in a highly porous nitrogen-doped mesoporous carbon (NMCs) synthesized by the ZIF-8 template. The as-prepared Pd/NMC catalyst was efficient and recyclable in mild catalytic hydrodechlorination of 4-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol, showing superior performances to those of the activated carbon-supported Pd commercial catalysts.

Free-standing, ultrathin manganese dioxide nanoflakes were synthesized by cationic surfactant controlled reduction of KMnO4. MnO2 nanoflakes showed a much higher mass activity than other manganese based oxides as well as B and N doped nano carbons. The approach here demonstrates a facile chemical route towards efficient manganese dioxide catalysts.
