Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) possess superb properties originating from their unique chiral structures. However, accurately controlling the structure of SWCNTs remains challenging due to the structural similarities of their chiral structures, which hinders their widespread application in various fields, particularly in electronics. In recent years, much effort has been devoted to preparing single chiral SWCNTs by adopting three constructive strategies, including growth condition control for structurally unstable liquid catalysts, employing stable solid catalyst design, and pre-synthesis of carbon seeds with a well-defined shape. This review comprehensively discusses the state-of-the-art developments in these approaches as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Applying galvanic replacement reactions (GRRs) to the host chiral nanoparticles (CNPs) is an exclusive method to generate alloy CNPs with mesoporous structures through chirality transfer. However, the GRR-mediated chirality transfer is too inefficient to impose strong optical activities on the alloy mesoporous CNPs (or m-CNPs). Here we dope the host with gold (Au) to significantly enhance the chirality transfer, and additionally employ the Au adhesion layer to increase the production yield (PY) of binary m-CNPs. Carbon monoxide (CO) plays an important role in signaling in cells, making its use as a therapeutic tool highly intriguing. Reduced burst emissions are important to avoid the cytotoxicity and tissue damage caused by CO. Here, we developed a stable diiron carbonyl [FeFe] hydrogenase agent that enables prolonged CO release activity (half-life of over 9 h) in cells. The integrated analysis allowed the identification of the key intermediate sites and CO accumulations with subcellular resolution. We observed that the [FeFe]A complex was enriched in neurons with S-methyl bond rupture. Furthermore, the [FeFe]A complex efficiently reduced the aggregation of tau proteins (49.3% reduction) and showed superior biocompatibility in nerve cells (∼ 95% survival). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Monodispersed gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were simultaneously decorated with lactosylated and non-modified shorter poly(ethylene glycol)s (PEGs) to enhance their target recognition. The decoration with sufficiently shorter PEGs dramatically enhanced the multivalent binding ability of lactosylated AuNPs to the lectin-fixed surface, possibly due to the enhanced mobility of the ligands via the spacer effect generated by the shorter PEG chains. Herein, we report a facile strategy for the synthesis of dual-functionalized graphene hybrids (A–H–GNs) based on interactions among graphene, N-(aminobutyl)-N-(ethylisoluminol) (ABEI) and hemin.
