In this study, the NiFe-LDH doped with different Pt group metals (Pt, Ru, Ir, Rh) was prepared as a cocatalyst for photocatalytic H 2 production over g-C 3 N 4 . It is found that the doped NiFe-LDH loaded g-C 3 N 4 generally displays higher photocatalytic activity than the raw NiFe-LDH modified one, where the NiFeRu-LDH loaded g-C 3 N 4 shows the optimal H 2 evolution rate of 77.4 μmol h -1 , about 5.5 times that of the NiFe-LDH system.

Here we present a hybrid catalytic pathway for efficient synthesis of 5-aminomethyl-2-furancarboxylic acid (AMFC), a bio-based nylon-6 analogue monomer, from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). This method combines homogeneous-catalyzed selective oxidation of HMF to 5-formyl-2-furancarboxylic acid (FFCA) with heterogeneous-catalyzed reductive amination using ammonia as the nitrogen source. Through this relay strategy, we achieve significant enhancements in overall efficiency, resulting in isolation yields of up to 92% for highly selective and scalable AMFC production from HMF.

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries have gained popularity due to their low cost and high safety, but their low energy density limits their application scenarios. Although the Prussian blue analogue (PBA) has the characteristics of high redox potential, the poor capacity and cycling performance restrict its further development. Here, we propose a modification strategy of a polyaniline (PANI) coating on zinc ferricyanide (ZnHCF). The PANI coating inhibits the dissolution of ZnHCF and enables the Zn-ion battery to present two long-flat discharge voltage platforms as well as a high capacity of 150 mA h g -1 , which provides a new idea for the development of high-performance PBA battery materials. Meanwhile, owing to the spring-like structure, the battery has a high stretchability of 600% and maintains stable electrochemical properties during stretching.

Two types of pyridoxal analogs, azido pyridoxal (PL-N 3 ) and carboxyl pyridoxal (PL-COOH), were developed as novel bifunctional bioorthogonal molecules. These molecules showed fast imine formation with hydrazinyl groups and stable covalent linkages via azido/carboxyl groups, and thus were of great use for site-specific peptide and protein modifications.

A novel hepatocyte-targeting near-infrared fluorescent probe named Gal-NIR is developed. Gal-NIR shows ratiometric response to ONOO- with high sensitivity and selectivity. Moreover, the probe can accurately target the hepatocyte, and thus is used for assessing drug-induced hepatotoxicity and its remediation by using hepatoprotective medicines in living cells and mice.

We explore a facile approach to construct dipeptide-based building blocks containing π-conjugated bridges by using biocross-linkers. Well-defined nanostructures can be assembled and tuned by using different solvents. Compared to pristine units, such dipeptide-based assemblies exhibit structure-dependent and remarkably enhanced optoelectronic properties.

A ratiometric fluorescent probe Cy-NEt2 for detecting ONOO- is designed and prepared by de novo synthesis, which is a reliable, cheap and flexible route. The probe is applied for monitoring the level of mitochondrial ONOO- and assessing the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mitochondrial oxidative stress status in living cells and in vivo successfully.

A flexible Sb 2 O 3 /carbon cloth (CC) composite is synthesized using a simple solvothermal method. The Sb 2 O 3 /CC composite exhibits higher capacity and capacity retention of alloying and conversion reactions as an anode for sodium ion batteries, attributed to the good conductivity of CC and strong chemical bonds between Sb 2 O 3 and CC.

An oxygen generation core-shell structure uploading rose bengal has been fabricated by covalent assembly of catalase and alginate dialdehyde via Schiff's base. The composite can catalyze the decomposition of intracellular H2O2 to increase the concentration of O2, which effectively enhances the anticancer efficiency of photodynamic therapy in vitro.

Three sulfonic azobenzenes with tiny differences in the terminal were used to manipulate the assembly of cationic dipeptides (CDP); assemblies with diverse morphologies including urchin-like, flower-like and plate-like structures were formed.

Glucose sensitive and autofluorescent protein coated mesoporous silica nanoparticles are synthesized through a layer-by-layer technique. The resulting nano-composites can be adhered to the surface of a cell and embedded into the cell membrane. These unique features make this nanocomposite a good candidate as cell marker or drug carrier.

Biocompatible and biodegradable microcapsules were fabricated by the covalent assembly of polysaccharides and their derivatives. The formation of Schiff's bases between polysaccharides and their derivatives enabled the microcapsules' autofluorescence properties and pH-responsivity. These polysaccharide microcapsules have great potential applications in biological tracing and drug delivery.

Silver nanochains composed of nanoparticles were prepared by photoreduction in situ under assistance of a helical self-assembly originating from coordination of Congo red and Ag(+). The special hierarchical nanostructures with different surface plasma resonance compared with silver nanoparticles have potential applications for electrical nanodevices.
