Herein, we describe a flexible strain-temperature sensor fabricated by employing conductive 1D multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), 2D reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and a flexible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate to construct a sandwich structure. Consequently, the flexible MWCNTs@RGO hybrid film with optimized conductivity exhibits a high gauge factor (GF = 1888) at a strain up to 40 %, prominent long-term durability (8000 cycles at 25 % strain), low strain detection (0.05 %) and rapid response (57 ms). The significantly enhanced performance is attributed to the synergy of tubular MWCNTs and layered RGO, as revealed by finite element analysis. Additionally, the hybrid film sensor exhibits temperature-sensing ability with a typical negative temperature coefficient of resistance and delivers an improved sensitivity upon thermal stimulus via prestrain-induced microcracks and a thermal expansion strategy. Owing to its excellent sensing properties, it can not only detect human motions in various situations but also be adopted as a temperature warning/cooling system, supporting its feasibility for use by patients lacking temperature perception and bringing convenience to daily life. CFs/MoS 2 /UiO-66-NH 2 can be used as weavable photocatalyst to eliminate levofloxacin (LVFX) or hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) in water under visible-light irradiation. MoS 2 -based nanocomposites on carbon fibers (CFs) have been well developed, but their practical applications are still limited owing to the unsatisfactory adsorption and photodegradation performances. To deal with these issues, we report the growth of UiO-66-NH 2 nanoparticles as a porous co-photocatalyst to decorate MoS 2 nanosheets on CFs. CFs/MoS 2 /UiO-66-NH 2 bundles are woven into a macroscopical cloth (4 × 4 cm2, 0.15 g). CFs/MoS 2 /UiO-66-NH 2 cloth can efficiently adsorb 34.9% levofloxacin (LVFX) and 35.3% hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) after 60 min, which is an obvious improvement (1.3–2.9 times) compared with that by CFs/MoS 2 cloth. Importantly, the cloth can remove 88.4% LVFX or 98.4% Cr(VI) within 120 min, which is 1.6–2.7 times compared with that by CFs/MoS 2 cloth, resulting from the high adsorption and two-component synergistic photocatalytic activity. Furthermore, CFs/MoS 2 /UiO-66-NH 2 shows a slight decline from 88.4% to 76.9% under visible light irradiation after 4 cycles. Aiming at the existing problems, such as the balanced sensitivity and sensing range, durability as well as expanded application, this paper proposes a flexible strain sensor prepared based on electrospun thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) membrane, followed by anchoring mixed conductive materials (carbon black (CB)/carbon nanotubes (CNT)) on its surface via an effective ultrasonic-assisted method. The resulting CB/CNT@TPU strain sensor delivers a desirable integration of sensing performances: good sensitivity, wide work range, fast response speed (<150 ms) and reliable cyclic stability (5000 cycles). Ascribed to the sensing behavior and additional breathability, strain sensor can be applied well to monitor human health, including human joints movements (fingers and wrists) and physiological signals (pulse and laryngeal vibration recognition). The preparation of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts with high activity, stability and low platinum loading has always been the focus of research. The single-atom platinum supported catalyst greatly improves the utilization of platinum, but the catalytic activity and selectivity are greatly affected by the platinum coordination environment, and the preparation of the material is difficult. Doping base metals to adjust the electronic structure of platinum is an effective strategy to improve catalyst performance. In this work, copper-platinum alloy nanoparticles were loaded on N-doped porous carbon via a targeted route guided by highly dispersed Cu atoms derived from MOF. The product C-ZIF-CuPt has high activity and high stability ORR, HER bifunctional catalytic performance, which is better than commercial Pt/C (20 wt%). The Pt activity in C-ZIF-CuPt is 4.4 times (ORR) and 6.7 times (HER) than Pt/C. Spectromicroscopic determinations unveiled that strong interactions between carbon carrier and the CuPt alloys contribute to the overall stabilities. DFT calculations show that Cu doping can increase the d-band center of Pt, reduce the ORR overpotential, and the activation energy barrier to water molecules, which is beneficial to ORR and HER catalysis. Under the same carrier conditions, the performance of sub-nano (single atoms, clusters) platinum-supported catalysts (C-ZIF-Cu-Pt) is inferior to C-ZIF-CuPt. Fluorinated reactive materials as new energetic materials are widely studied because of their high combustion heat and the ability to release large amounts of gaseous products. In order to further improve combustion reaction and the energy release efficiency, structural processing strategy is usually adopted to construct unique microstructures for fluorinated reactive materials. In this work, it is found that fluorinated graphene (FG) and nano-aluminum (nAl) can be rapidly assembled by the intercalation-like method to form multilayer nanostructured energetic materials with particle mosaic. Based on this, the energy output performance of these multilayer nanostructured energetic materials can be effectively regulated by changing the ratio of FG to nAl. The shortest laser ignition delay time (8 ms) and the longest burning time (56 ms) can be achieved for the multilayer nanostructured energetic material with proper FG/Al ratio, while the burning rate of the sample spline can reach 14.83 cm/s. In addition, the reaction process of multilayer nanostructured FG/Al energetic materials depends upon oxygen content that participates in the reaction in different atmospheres, leading to the different pressure output performance. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for breast cancer patients. Interstitial fluid (ISF) shows promise for early disease screening, but its extraction for biomarker detection is challenging. To address this, we designed a microneedle (MN) patch for minimally invasive and rapid ISF extraction through materials engineering, which could improve cancer detection, ease the burden on medical resources, and increase patient compliance. Via UV crosslinking, the water absorbing moiety, acrylic acid (AA), can be polymerized and crosslinked with gelatin methacrylate (GelMA). The resulting GelMA-AA MN (G-A MN) can rapidly extract different analytes. One piece of G-A MN patch can aspirate about 1.29 mg (≈ 1.29 µL) of ISF from mice within 60 s. We further applied G-A MN for breast cancer screening in the 4T1 orthotopic mice breast cancer model and genetically engineered breast cancer model. By measuring the tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and glycoantigen CA15-3, G-A MN could detect the cancer occurrence earlier than other standard screening methods, including blood tests, ultrasound, or Micro-CT. Furthermore, earlier diagnosis led to timely chemotherapy treatment and resulted in prolonged survival in the mice 4T1 breast cancer model. In conclusion, G-A MN enabled rapid ISF extraction for biomarker analysis in a minimally invasive manner. The 2D semiconductors are important players in environmental and energy fields due to their unique catalytic and physical properties defined by their dimensionality. Versatile functionalities on one 2D matrix will enlarge its application scopes but require dedicated engineering paths. In this work, we present a cross-dimensional strategy by decorating 0D Co 3 O 4 onto 2D Co(OH) 2 to form a multifunctional photocatalyst. The one-pot hydrothermally synthesized Co 3 O 4 @Co(OH) 2 composite is capable of degrading polystyrene microplastics with an efficiency of 40% under 0.495 W white LED illumination. In a separated experiment, H 2 evolution reaction from water splitting was evaluated in absence of sacrificial agents leading to 43 μmol g−1 and to an apparent quantum efficiency of 3.48% at 420 nm. The study of the energy band diagrams by UV–Visible and ambient photoemission spectroscopy and the analysis of the radicals involved in the reaction of photocatalytic degradation allow to unveil the mechanisms for both the processes herein studied. Finally, we could confirm that the heterostructure benefits the redox potentials of 2D and 0D counterparts and facile electron transfers when crossing two different dimensions. Developing a novel nanofiltration membrane for effectively purifying antibiotic wastewater has been a daunting challenge in recent years. However, a convenient and controllable strategy for constructing membranes with two-dimensional nanomaterials (2DNMs) and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) needs to be further studied. Herein, a loosely hierarchical architecture composite membrane has been fabricated, utilizing an electrostatic layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly method to intercalate chitosan crosslinked UiO-66-NH 2 MOFs (CMOF) into MoS 2 laminates. Through regulating the CMOF content, lower hydraulic-resisted channels and precise separation regions have been formed in the hierarchical architecture. The well-designed MoS 2 /CMOF composite membrane exhibited enhanced water permeance (78.98 ± 1.45 L·m-2h−1 bar−1) and superior antibiotic rejection capability (98.01 ± 1.12% for ciprofloxacin and 94.31 ± 0.68% for ofloxacin), which are increased by 27–55% more than monomer membranes. Detailed analysis results indicate the nanofiltration performance of the MoS 2 /CMOF composite membrane depends heavily on the synergistic mechanism, including the molecular sieving effect (size exclusion), electrostatic repulsion, and hydrophilic-hydrophobic interaction. Besides, the MoS 2 /CMOF composite membrane has emerged with excellent antifouling ability and long-term stability, which could maintain favorable rejection efficiency in continuous nanofiltration for 72 h under an alkaline and acidic environment. Furthermore, it presents over 90% antibiotic rejection rates for real water samples obtained from the municipal domestic sewage and livestock wastewater along the Xiangjiang River in China, indicating its good availability. In general, this work provides a new vision and a reasonable design strategy to construct 2DNMs/MOFs-based nanofiltration membranes with hierarchical architecture, further expanding their application in wastewater treatment and reclamation, in harmony with the global trend of green and low-carbon development. Flexible, transparent and lightweight polymer piezoelectric films are promising for emerging sensor applications, including wearable electronics and human–machine interfaces. However, it remains a great challenge for large-scale fabrication of high-quality polymer piezoelectric films by a cost-effective melt processing approach, mainly due to the difficulty of acquiring well-defined electroactive phases. Herein, a readily implementable and scalable strategy is reported to achieve poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) film with ultrahigh content of electroactive β-phase (∼96%) via melt stretching of slightly crosslinked PVDF. Upon controlled temperature and stretch ratio, the β-phase adopts an oriented nanofibril (diameter, 21.6 nm) morphology, while nanofibrils are further densely and parallelly aligned to fill the film space. The hierarchical nanoscale phase morphology endows the slightly crosslinked film with high optical transmittance (∼90%), good flexibility and also superior mechanical properties. Moreover, flexible piezoelectric device constructed on the film is demonstrated to have excellent electrical output with sensitive and repeatable responses in sensing dynamic pressure (0–250 kPa), temperature variation (3.3 mV oC-1), human motions and subtle physiological activities. Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (Li-TFSI) is generally regarded as a conventional p-dopant for classical hole transport material Spiro-OMeTAD, which improves the hole mobility and conductivity of hole-transporting layer (HTL). However, the hygroscopic Li-TFSI would absorb moisture and accelerate the degradation of perovskite film, causing a decline in the long-term stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, a novel dopant Li-TFSI endohedral metal–organic frameworks (namely Li-TFSI@NH 2 -MIL-101) is constructed for reducing the amount of Li salt and resisting the attack from water molecules. With a significantly decreased Li salt loading mass, the optimal power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 19.01% is achieved for Li-TFSI@ NH 2 -MIL-101 doped PSCs, which is comparable to that of conventional devices (19.23%). Furthermore, the strong interaction between ammonium groups (–NH 2) and uncoordinated Pb2+ ions would passivate the trap states and inhibit ion migration at perovskite/hole transport layer interface, which further improve the device stability. Importantly, this approach realizes an enhanced stability for approximately 10-fold that of conventional devices at the preliminary stage (time to reduce to 90% of initial PCE). The Li-TFSI@NH 2 -MIL-101 doped PSCs display impressive property stability retaining over 85% of the optimal PCE after 3600 h storage in ambient environment (room temperature and RH ≈ 40%). [Display omitted] • A simple method is presented using different DMSO/salt mixtures to optimize TE PEDOT:PSS films. • Seebeck coefficients and conductivities provide optimized power factors. • The morphology-structure–property relationship of the TE systems is gained. The combination of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)-solvent doping and physical–chemical DMSO/salt de-doping in a sequence has been used to improve the thermoelectric (TE) properties of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) films. A high power factor of ca. 105.2 µW m−1 K−2 has been achieved for the PEDOT:PSS film after post-treatment with 10 % sodium sulfite (Na 2 SO 3) in the DMSO/salt mixture (v/v), outperforming sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO 3). The initial DMSO-doping treatment induces a distinct phase separation by facilitating the aggregation of the PEDOT molecules. At the same time, the subsequent DMSO/salt de-doping post-treatment strengthens the selective removal of the surplus non-conductive PSS chains. Substantial alterations in the oxidation level, chain conformations, PEDOT crystallites and their preferential orientation are observed upon treatment on the molecular level. At the mesoscale level, the purification and densification of PEDOT-rich domains enable the realization of inter-grain coupling by the formation of the electronically well-percolated network. Degradation of TBBPA by NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP/H 2 O 2 heterogeneous Fenton system. [Display omitted] • Synthesis of NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP materials by one-pot method. • The core–shell structure of the material reduced aggregation and increased the specific surface area. • The mesoporous network structure effectively prevented the leaching of Co (II). • NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP efficiently degraded TBBPA as Fenton-like catalyst. While the bimetal heterogeneous Fenton system degraded organic pollutants, the leaching of heavy metals caused secondary pollution. To resolve this problem, nanoscale zero-valent iron/cobalt@mesoporous hydrated silica core–shell particles (NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP) were synthesized as a novel Fenton-like catalyst for the rapid degradation of Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA). The performance of NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP in the degradation of TBBPA and the mechanism of their action were investigated through scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP exhibited a regular spherical shape with a surface area (115.44 m2·g−1) that was 5 times more than that of the ordinary NZVI/NZVC (23.59 m2·g−1). The core of NZVI/NZVC was covered with a hydrated silica shell that formed a mesoporous network that effectively prevented the leaching of cobalt ions from the core. The best catalytic performance of NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP was obtained by optimizing the iron-to-cobalt ratio, H 2 O 2 concentration, and the dosage of the catalyst. The optimized NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP exhibited the greatest mineralization activity (97.13%) for TBBPA removal than those in NZVI/NZVC bimetal (84.49%) and pure NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP (59.37%). Thus, our results demonstrated that NZVI/NZVC@mHS CSP exhibited excellent reactivity in potential application as a highly active heterogeneous Fenton catalyst for degradation of TBBPA in soil and groundwater. The Bi-based hierarchical multi-component photocatalytic system is an important player in energy and environmental catalysis due to its full-spectrum light absorption and stable separation of photo-generated charges. In this study, a novel family of iodine doped Bi 2 O 2 CO 3 /Bi 2 WO 6 heterojunctions was successfully developed by a facile ionic liquid assisted solvothermal method. A visible light photocatalytic H 2 production rate of 664.5 μmol g−1 h−1 (0.3I-Bi 2 O 2 CO 3 /Bi 2 WO 6 with 3% Pt) has been durably obtained, much higher than those of pristine and undoped counterparts. The photocatalysts are also capable for persistent pollutant and dye degradation. Through electrochemical and spectroscopic tests and density functional theory calculation, the enhanced photocatalytic activity is attributed to formation of the Z-scheme photocatalyst. Therein, the lowered and indirect bandgap and heterojunctional band alignment spontaneously benefit visible light harvesting, electron-hole pair separation, and proton reduction. Besides a facile synthesis for effective photocatalysis, the Z-scheme mechanism is hoped to facilitate the design and realization of similar systems for photocatalytic H 2 evolution and organic hazards decontamination. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) materials show great potential in wastewater separation applications. In this study, zirconium-based MOFs (UiO-66) were prepared and constructed universal, high-performance, and flexible nanofiltration (NF) membrane for various dyes and antibiotics separation. The substrate was constructed by two-steps, a) doping graphene oxide (GO) sheets into the membrane casting solution containing polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and forming 2D-3D connecting pores by phase immersion conversion method (defined as GO@PAN), b) immersing the GO@PAN substrate into dopamine solution to self-polymerize into chain macromolecules, which obtaining good compatible and flexible substrate (defined as PGP). Moreover, the UiO-66 was synthesized via solvothermal method and subsequently coated onto the PGP substrate by vacuum-assisted filtration. Benefiting from the water stability, porous structure, and negative charge of UiO-66, the outstanding filtration performance of the UiO-66/PGP thin-film composite (TFC) membrane was achieved. The pure water permeability of the UiO-66/PGP TFC membrane was 31.33 ± 0.75 L m−2h−1 bar−1, and the rejection rates for dye (Congo red, Methyl orange, Rhodamine B, and Methylene blue) and antibiotic (Tetracycline hydrochloride, Oxytetracycline, and Ciprofloxacin) were above 94%. Therefore, we further explored the retention mechanism of the UiO-66/PGP TFC membrane for dye and antibiotic separation (size exclusion and electrostatic interaction). More importantly, antifouling properties and long-time stability of the UiO-66/PGP TFC membrane were also evaluated. These results indicated that the prepared UiO-66/PGP TFC membrane is promising for wastewater treatment, separation, and purification in many industrial and pharmaceutical fields.
