The reaction of the allylic halides 5–9 having an aldehyde or an imine moiety in the molecule with allyltributylstannane proceeded smoothly in the presence of Pd2•dba3•CHCl3 (5 mol%) in DMF or THF, giving the corresponding heterocycles 10–14 in good to high yields. The Stille coupling product was not obtained under these reaction conditions.

Tertiary amines with three different substituents, in one of which a vinylsilane functionality was included, were straightforwardly formed by the copper(I) chloride-catalyzed tandem reaction of primary amines, a-halogen-substituted allylsilanes, and electrophiles such as electron-deficient olefins, alkyl halides, alkyl tosylates, or epoxides. In the case using electron-deficient olefins as the electrophile, the addition of chloroacetone to the reaction system afforded the three-component coupling reaction more effectively. The addition of trimethyl borate as a co-catalyst improved the yields of the three-component coupling products in the reaction using alkyl halides, alkyl tosylates, or epoxides as the electrophiles, although the reaction times were lengthened.

(1-Halo-2-propenyl)trimethylsilanes underwent the addition of polyhalides or α-haloesters under catalysis by the copper(I) ethanolamine or N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine complex to bring about vinylsilane derivatives through dehalogenation accompanying the migration of the carbon-carbon double bond.

The dissolution of PuO2 is a fundamental problem in nuclear technology. In this work the effect of the U4+ ion on the rate of dissolution of PuO2(s) in HNO3 was tested by experimental measurements. The U4+ ion greatly increases the rate of dissolution crystalline of PuO2 powder in 5 mol dm–3 HNO3 at 90 °C.
