Abstract

The detection of peroxide explosives (PEs) has attracted considerable attention all over the world in global security owing to their simple preparation, poor chemical stability and easy decomposition. In recent years, great efforts have been devoted to developing organic fluorescence sensors for detecting the PEs because of their fast response, high sensitivity and high selectivity. In this short review, we firstly discuss the sensing mechanisms for fluorescence based the PEs detection. Next, we reviewed recent progress of PE probes in the nearly 5 years and the design strategies of the material structures to enhance the sensitivity or selectivity, such as conjugated polymers and assembled nanoparticles.

Abstract

Cp*Co(III)-catalyzed annulations of 2-alkenylphenols with CO for the synthesis of coumarin derivatives have been developed. The reaction features mild reaction conditions, broad substrate scope, and good functional group tolerance. Preliminary mechanistic studies were conducted, suggesting that C–H activation is the turnover limiting step. Furthermore, the efficiency of this reaction was demonstrated by the rapid total synthesis of three natural products herniarin, xanthyletin, and seselin.

Two series of heterocyclic compounds, thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimidazoles and benzimidazo[2,1-b]-1,3-thiazines, were synthesized by the tunable base-controlled regioselective cascade reaction of 2-mercaptobenzimidazole with Morita–Baylis–Hillman acetates of nitroalkenes in good yields with high regioselectivities.

3′-[2-(Selenoaryl)acetamido]epi-daunomycin derivatives 2a–d and 4′-[2-(selenoaryl)acetoxy]-N-(trifluoroacetyl)epi-daunomycin derivatives 4a–e were synthesized from epi-daunomycin 1d and N-trifluoroacetyl epi-daunomycin 3, respectively. These new compounds were assayed against human stomach cancer SGC-7901 and human leukaemia HL60.
