Cascade reaction of methylchromones bearing an electron‐withdrawing group at position 3, e.g. (I), (VI) or (VIII), with chromone‐derived dienes (II) or (IV) provides access to varying types of polycyclic compounds, e.g. (III), (V), (VII) or (IX), depending on the nature of electron‐withdrawing group and of the diene used.
