A broad spectrum of the important heterocyclic scaffolds is prepared and a complete anti diastereoselectivity is achieved for tricyclic fused pyrroles such as (VIII).

Derivative (IVg) is found to be the most potent inhibitor of acetyl cholinesterase with an IC50of 0.11 μmol/L.

An efficient, ecofriendly synthesis of novel phosphonates (III) (12 examples) in polyethylene glycol, which serves as reaction medium and catalyst, is achieved.

The synthesis of title arylquinolinones (IV) and the corresponding coumarin derivatives (XI) is achieved by consecutive Heck reaction of o‐iodoanilines (I) and o‐iodophenol (X), resp., with acrylic acid (II) and aryl iodides (III) in the presence of Pd—NiFe2O4as catalyst.
