Abstract

Solid-state reaction of (NH4)6Mo7O24 · 4H2O with Bu4NBr and NH2OH · HCl at low temperature yields an isopolyoxomolybdate [Bu4N]+6[H3O]+2[Mo13O40]4−2, the structure of which has been determined by X-ray crystallography. The title compound contains two [Mo13O40]4− anions which have different symmetry. Both anions have Keggin-type structures with a molybdenum atom centre.

Abstract

The design, synthesis, and structural and magnetic properties of the two new bimetallic complexes [Sm(DMF)4(H2O)2Cr(CN)6]·H2O and [Sm(DMF)2(H2O)3Cr(CN)6]·H2O (DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide) are presented. [Sm(DMF)4(H2O)2Cr(CN)6]·H2O was prepared by the reaction between Sm3+ and [Cr(CN)6]3- in a methanol−DMF solution, while [Sm(DMF)2(H2O)3Cr(CN)6]·H2O was prepared by the reaction between Sm3+, DMF, and [Cr(CN)6]3- in the molar ratio of 1:2:1 in H2O. [Sm(DMF)4(H2O)2Cr(CN)6]·H2O crystallizes in the monoclinic space group of P2(1)/c with a = 13.161(3) A, b = 12.928(3) A, c = 19.174(4) A, β = 109.82(3)°, and Z = 4, while [Sm(DMF)2(H2O)3Cr(CN)6]·H2O is in the triclinic space group P1 with a = 7.7535(1) A, b = 9.4307(3) A, c = 16.2905(5) A, α = 94.1590(14)°, β = 100.0597(18)°, γ = 100.9154(18)°, and Z = 2. The structure of [Sm(DMF)4(H2O)2Cr(CN)6]·H2O possesses a cyano-bridged one-dimensional (1D) zigzag chain structure with alternating Sm(DMF)4(H2O)2 and Cr(CN)6 moieties. Nucleophilic addition of the chiral lithium enolates of (S)-(−)-4-benzyl-2-oxazolidinone acetamide with N-tosyl arylaldehyde imines gives β-aryl-β-amino acid derivatives in good yields and excellent diastereoselectivity.

Abstract

Reaction of 1,4-dilithio-1,3-diene derivatives with 2 equiv of aldehydes affords polysubstituted 2,5-dihydrofurans in good to high yields with perfect regio- and stereoselectivities. Hexa-2,4-diene-1,6-dialcoholates are proposed as the first intermediates, which undergo a cyclization and subsequent elimination of Li2O to generate the 2,5-dihydrofuran derivatives.

Abstract

Catalytic asymmetric sulfur ylide [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of carbenoids generated from aryldiazoacetates has been investigated with a number of chiral Rh(II) and Cu(I) catalysts, and moderately high enantioselectivity (52-78% ee) can be achieved with Cu(MeCN)(4)PF(6)/2,2'-isopropylidenebis[(4S)-4-tert-butyl-2-oxazoline].
