Abstract: The article examines the role of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)-related pulmonary hypertension (PH). Cytokine plasma levels and the polymorphisms G(-174) C IL-6 and A(-2518)G MCP-1 in patients were assessed. Patients with PH have higher plasma IL-6 than those without PH. It was found that inflammation involving IL-6 contribute to COPD-related PH.
