There has long been a need for a book of this nature - an interdisciplinary analysis of Chinese corporations and the myriad factors that should be considered in locating and understanding the corporations within their sociopolitical ecosystem. 8-10) considers the impact of the Chinese corporate-political ecosystem on the natural-human ecosystem and suggests how traditional Chinese philosophy may provide insights and tools "for recalibrating the incentives of the current corporate-political ecosystem and promoting more harmonious interaction between Chinese corporations and their nature/human/international environment" (231). A key argument that weaves through the book is that realities can only be grasped through an examination of the broader sociopolitical ecosystem and by treating Chinese corporations as "complex living organisms interacting dynamically with (and upon) a multilayered political, cultural, and ecological natural-human environment" (1).
