Theoretical analysis for an online measurement of the stack gas flow velocity based on the optical scintillation method with a structure of two parallel optical paths is performed. The causes of optical scintillation in a stack are first introduced. Then, the principle of flow velocity measurement and its mathematical expression based on cross correlation of the optical scintillation are presented. The field test results show that the flow velocity measured by the proposed technique in this article is consistent with the value tested by the Pitot tube. It verifies the effectiveness of this method. Finally, by use of the structure function of logarithmic light intensity fluctuations, the theoretical explanation of optical scintillation spectral characteristic in low frequency is given. The transition energies and electric dipole (E1) transition rates of the K, L, and M lines in neutral Np have been theoretically determined from the MultiConfiguration Dirac—Fock (MCDF) method. In the calculations, the contributions from Breit interaction and quantum electrodynamics (QED) effects (vacuum polarization and self-energy), as well as nuclear finite mass and volume effects, are taken into account. The calculated transition energies and rates are found to be in good agreement with other experimental and theoretical results. The accuracy of the results is estimated and discussed. Furthermore, we calculated the transition energies of the same lines radiating from the decaying transitions of the K-, L-, and M-shell hole states of Np ions with the charge states Np1+ to Np6+ for the first time. We found that for a specific line, the corresponding transition energies relating to all the Np ions are almost the same; it means the outermost electrons have a very small influence on the inner-shell transition processes. The photoionization cross section of the ground state and the first excited state of C II ions are systematically calculated using the fully relativistic R-matrix code DARC. The detailed resonances are presented and identified for the photon energy ranging from threshold (24.38 eV) up to 41.5 eV where the L-shell (2p, 2s) photoionization process is dominant. In the calculations, the relativistic effect and electronic correlation effect are well considered. It is found that the relativistic effect is very important for the light atomic system CII, which accounts for experimentally observed fine structure resonance peaks. A careful comparison is made between the present results and the experimental values, and also other theoretical data available in the literature, showing that good agreement is obtained for the resonance peaks. We determine the static values of the scalar and tensor dipole polarizabilities of the ground, 6s6p , and 6s6p states of the Yb atom. These results can be useful in many experiments undertaken using this atom. We employed a combined configuration interaction (CI) method and a second-order many-body perturbation theory (MBPT) to evaluate energies and electric dipole (E1) matrix elements of many low-lying excited states of the above atom. These values are compared with the other available theoretical calculations and experimental values. By combining these E1 matrix elements with the experimental excitation energies, we estimate the dominant valence correlation contributions to the dipole polarizabilities of the above states. The core contribution is obtained from the finite field approach. The electron–ion recombination for phosphorus-like 112Sn35+ has been measured at the main cooler storage ring of the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou, China, employing an electron–ion merged-beams technique. The absolute total recombination rate coefficients for electron–ion collision energies from 0 eV–14 eV are presented. Theoretical calculations of recombination rate coefficients were performed using the Flexible Atomic Code to compare with the experimental results. The contributions of dielectronic recombination and trielectronic recombination on the experimental rate coefficients have been identified with the help of the theoretical calculation. The present results show that the trielectronic recombination has a substantial contribution to the measured electron–ion recombination spectrum of 112Sn35+. Although a reasonable agreement is found between the experimental and theoretical results the precise calculation of the electron–ion recombination rate coefficients for M-shell ions is still challengeable for the current theory. We demonstrated a Kerr-lens mode-locked polycrystalline Cr:ZnS laser pumped by a narrow-linewidth linear-polarised monolithic Er:YAG nonplanar ring oscillator operated at 1645 nm. With a 5-mm-thick sapphire plate for intracavity dispersion compensation, a compact and stable Kerr-lens mode-locking operation was realised. The oscillator delivered 125-fs pulses at 2347 nm with an average power of 80 mW. Owing to the special polycrystalline structure of the Cr:ZnS crystal, the second to fourth harmonic generation was observed by random quasi-phase-matching. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a versatile tool for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. In this paper, LIBS combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and support vector machine (SVM) is applied to rock analysis. Fourteen emission lines including Fe, Mg, Ca, Al, Si, and Ti are selected as analysis lines. A good accuracy (91.38% for the real rock) is achieved by using SVM to analyze the spectroscopic peak area data which are processed by PCA. It can not only reduce the noise and dimensionality which contributes to improving the efficiency of the program, but also solve the problem of linear inseparability by combining PCA and SVM. By means of the classical method, we investigate the (3+1)-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. The symmetry group of the (3+1)-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation is studied first and the theorem of group invariant solutions is constructed. Then using the associated vector fields of the obtained symmetry, we give the one-, two-, and three-parameter optimal systems of group-invariant solutions. Based on the optimal system, we derive the reductions and some new solutions of the (3+1)-dimensional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
