The β-delayed neutron and γ energy spectra taken from the decay of neutron-rich nucleus 21N were measured by using the β–γ and β – n coincidence detection method. Thirteen new neutron groups ranging from 0.28MeV to 4.98MeV and with a total branching ratio of 88.7 ± 4.2% were observed and presented. One γ transition with an energy of 1222keV emitted from the excited state of 21O, and four γ transitions with energies of 1674, 2397, 2780, and 3175keV emitted from the excited states of 20O were identified in the β decay chain of 21N. The β decay half-life for 21N is determined to be 82.9 ± 1.9 ms. The uncertainty of half-life is much smaller than the previous result.

Excitation functions have been measured for different projectile-like fragments produced in Al-27(F-19,x)y reactions at incident energies from 110.25 to 118.75 MeV in 250 keV steps. Strong cross section fluctuations of the excitation functions are observed. The cross- correlation coefficients of the excitation functions for different atomic number Z and for different scattering angle theta(cm) have been deduced. These coefficients are much larger than the statistical theoretical calculated ones. This indicates that there are strong correlations between different exit channels in the dissipative heavy ion Collision of Al-27(F-19,x)y.

Excitation functions are measured for different charge products of the 19F+27Al reaction in the laboratory energy range 110.25–118.75 MeV in steps of 250 keV at θlab = 57°, 31° and −29°. The coherence rotation angular velocities of the intermediate dinuclear systems formed in the reaction are extracted from the cross section energy autocorrelation functions. Compared the angular velocity extracted from the experimental data with the ones deduced from the sticking limit, it is indicated that a larger deformation of the intermediate dinuclear system exists.

We perform the calculation of the nucleus-nucleus interaction potential of the dinuclear system with deformed nuclei. Based on the calculated results by properly treating the double-folding method, some results from the analytical expressions for calculating both the nuclear and the Coulomb interactions are investigated. It is concluded that the analytical formula to calculate the Coulomb interaction by Wong [Phys. Rev. Lett. 31 (1973) 766] can reproduce good double folding results. However the results by the parametrized Morse formula, which are used to calculate the nuclear interaction, greatly deviate from the double folding results, unless the distance of nuclei is adjusted to be shifted to a smaller relative distance determined by the same distance between the nuclear surfaces as one of them pertains to the deformed nuclei. Using the double folding method to calculate the nuclear interaction and employing Wong's analytical formula to calculate the Coulomb interaction can keep good precision and can cost much less computation time.

Distribution of the parallel momentum of $^{28}$Si fragments from the breakup of 30.7 MeV/nucleon $^{29}$P has been measured on C targets. The distribution has the FWHM with the value of 110.5 $\pm$ 23.5 MeV/c which is consistent quantitatively with Galuber model calculation assuming by a valence proton in $^{29}$P. The density distribution is also predicted by Skyrme-Hartree-Fock calculation. Results show that there might exist the proton-skin structure in $^{29}$P., Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures

The survival probability of the superheavy compound nuclei with Z = 114 is studied with the statistical model. It is found that the survival probability shows drastic odd-even effects. The odd-A compound nuclei have higher survival probability by evaporating three neutrons as compared with their neigbouring even-A compound nuclei.

Influence of the nuclear deformation on the potential energy surface (PES) in a di-nuclear system is studied in details. It is found that the PES shape changes greatly due to the deformation effect. The top point of the PES could be reduced significantly, which implies that the optimum excitation energy could also be reduced greatly and may enhance the formation probability of the compound nucleus. The dynamical deformation as a function of the reaction time in the reaction process is dramatic. The Z/N ratios of fragments tend to follow that of the compound nucleus during the nucleon exchange process, but to fluctuate.

The differential cross sections of 17F and 17O elastic scattering products on 208Pb have been measured at the Radioactive Ion Beam Line at Lanzhou (RIBLL). Two angular dispersion plots of ln (dσ/dθ) versus θ2 are obtained from the angular distribution of the elastic scattering differential cross sections. The angular dispersion plot exhibits a clear turning point for 17F in the range of small scattering angles 6°–20° due to its exotic structure, but for 17O, the turning point is not observed in the same angular range. The experimental results have been compared with previous data of other groups. Systematical analysis on the available data supports the above conclusion that there is an exotic behaviour of the angular dispersion plot of weakly bound nuclei with halo or skin structure as compared with that of the ordinary nuclei near stable line. Therefore the turning point of the angular dispersion plot appears at small angle for weakly bound nuclei with halo or skin structure, and can be used as a new probe to investigate the halo and skin phenomena of weakly bound nuclei.

High spin states in 170Ta have been studied via 159Tb(16O, 5nγ)170Ta reaction at 105 MeV beam energy. Three rotational bands have been observed among which one coupled band and an unfavored ΔI = 2 transition sequence of the semidecoupled band are identified in this work. The effects of the π½-[541] proton intruder orbital are qualitatively discussed.

An inclusive measurement was performed for 30 MeV/u 40Ar+58,64Ni and 115In. By employing the degree of freedom of N/Z, the production mechanism of the high energy component of the intermediate mass fragments (IMFs: 3 ≤ Z ≤ 13) has been discussed. Special attention has been paid to the target dependence of N/Z ratio of the energetic fragments. These IMFs may be produced by a projectile fragmentation process with energy dissipation.

Angular distributions of fragments B, C, N, O, F, Ne, Na, Mg and Al induced by the collision of F-19+Al-27 at 114 MeV have been measured. Angular dispersion parameters are extracted from the experimental data and compared with the theoretical ones. The dynamic dispersions for dissipative products depend strongly on the charge number Z of the fragments.

The total reaction cross sections (TRCSs) of 29S+28Si have been measured at intermediate energies. An obvious enhancement in TRCS of 29S is observed as compared with its neighbouring nuclei. The TRCSs of 29S+28Si are calculated with the modified Glauber theory in the optical limit and few-body approaches. The different factor d as a possible measure of halo appearance is deduced from the experimental and theoretical data. It is well accepted that 27P is a proton halo nucleus. Although not as anomalous as 27P, the different factor d of 29S is obviously larger than that of its neighbouring isotones of N = 13. This result indicates that a moderate proton halo may exist in 29S nucleus. We calculate the total reaction cross sections for 29S with the modified Glauber theory as a function of incident energy and compare the results with those for 27Si which is a core nucleus of 29S. The measured TRCSs of 27Si+28Si can be described to be satisfactory by the modified Glauber theory of the optical limit approach. Although a diffused nuclear density distribution is used, the theories still inadequately predict the experimental TRCSs of 29S+28Si, which further indicates the possibility of proton halo in 29S.

We measured the total reaction cross sections of 12N in Si at 36.2 MeV/u using B.adioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou (RIBLL) with a new method. The reaction target was installed at the intermediate focusing point T1 at RIBLL. This scheme allows us to identify particles before and after the reaction target unambiguously. The total reaction cross section (1760 ± 78 mb) of 12N in Si is obtained. Assuming that 12N consists of a core 11C plus one halo proton, the excitation function of N on the Si and C targets is calculated with the Glauber model and the Fermi–Fermi density distributions. It can fit the experimental data very well. A large diffusion of the protons density distribution supports the halo structure for 12N.

Differential cross sections for the quasi-elastic scattering of C-16 at 47.5 MeV/nucleon from C-12 target are measured. Coupled-channels calculations are carried out and the optical potential parameters are obtained by fitting the experimental angular distribution.
