We study the thermal entanglement by means of concurrence in a two-qubit isotropic XY model in the presence of site-dependent external magnetic fields in arbitrary directions. We find that at a given temperature and magnetic field strength, the mirror symmetry of the two fields about the x-y plane is a necessary condition for maximum entanglement. However, if there is no constraint on the field strengths, then the necessary condition for maximum entanglement reduces to the configuration that the two fields are vertical, anti-parallel and with the same strength. High-spin states of 160Tm are studied by the 146Nd(19F, 5n) reaction at a beam energy of 102 MeV. The previously known ph11/2 [?]ni13/2 yrast band and ph11/2 [?]nh9/2 side band are confirmed. The level scheme is enriched and more low-lying levels are observed. A new side band is observed and assigned as the favoured signature partner of pd3/2 [?]ni13/2. The spin of this band is assigned with the energy level systematics. It is pointed out that the B(M1)/B(E2) ratios increase rapidly at the high frequency approaching the second crossing in the ph11/2 [?]ni13/2 band, which is closely related to the alignment gain of the aligned i13/2 quasineutron. The working stability of thinner-thick gaseous electron multipliers (THGEMs), which have been developed by the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Second Academy of China's Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, is studied with an 8 keV x-ray on a Cu target. Gains of about 103–104 are achieved with a single board in Ar:iC4H10 (97:3). Environmental factors, such as pressure, temperature and humidity are considered. Excited states in 120I are investigated utilizing in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy following the 114Cd(11B,5n) reaction at 70 MeV bombarding energy. A level scheme is constructed with states up to 9 MeV. The levels are classified into several bands and their possible configurations at low spins are discussed briefiy. Based on the linking transitions between different bands at higher spins, the excitation energy of the previously reported T1/2 = 53 min isomer is ascertained to be 72keV. Thick gas electron multipliers (THGEMs) are new types of gas detectors with merits such as a high counting rate, anti-radiation, high gain, robustness and relatively low cost. We establish an up-down THGEM detector hodoscope system for detecting and displaying muon tracks. Muon tracks can be well observed with the detectors and the present study lays an important technological foundation for the domestic and mass production of THGEMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gasbag targets are useful for the research of laser-plasma interactions in inertial confinement fusion, especially in the laser overlapping regime. We report that on the Shengguang-II laser facility, millimeter-scale plasmas are successfully generated by four 0.35 μm laser beams using a gasbag target. Multiple diagnostics are applied to characterize the millimeter-scale plasmas in detail. The images from the x-ray pinhole cameras confirm that millimeter-scale plasmas are indeed created. An optical Thomson scattering system diagnoses the electron temperature of the CH filling plasmas by probing the thermal ion-acoustic fluctuations, which indicates that the electron temperature has a 600 eV flat roof in 0.7-1.3 ns. Another key parameter, i.e. the electron density of the millimeter-scale plasmas, is inferred by the spectrum of the back stimulated Raman scattering of an additional 0.53 μm laser beam. The inferred electron density keeps stable at 0.1ηc in early time consistent with the controlled filling pressure and splits into a higher density in late time, which is attributed to the blast wave entering into the SRS interaction region. The high-spin states of 160Lu are populated by the fusion-evaporation reaction 144Sm(19F,3n)160Lu at beam energies of 90 and 106 MeV. A new level scheme of 160Lu is established. A possible isomeric state based on the ph11/2[?]nh9/2 configuration is observed. The new decoupled band with the configuration of pd3/2[411]1/2+[?]ni13/2[660]1/2+ is established, and the configurations of these similar decoupled bands in the neighboring odd-odd 162[?]166Lu nuclei are suggested. A positive parity coupled band is assigned as the pd5/2[402]5/2+[?]ni13/2[660]1/2+ configuration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Level structures of 113In are studied through the fusion-evaporation reaction 110Pd(7Li,4n)113In at a beam energy of 50 MeV. Two new bands are established for the first time. Here the DI = 2 band based on proton excitation is assigned to the pg[?]29/2[?]nh211/2d5/2 configuration. In addition, the backbending associated with the additional aligned h11/2 neutron pair is found in the negative parity yrast band. The experimental results are compared with self-consistent tilted axis cranking relativistic mean field calculations. Several decay paths of the ph11/2 intruder band are established, by which the level energies and spins of the ph11/2 intruder band are determined. The bandcrossing delay of the ph11/2 intruder bands around the Z = 50 shell and the dynamic moment of inertia of the pg[?]19/2[?]nh211/2 bands in 113,115,117,119 In are studied systematically. Single-photon flux is one of the crucial properties of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond for its application in quantum information techniques. Here we fabricate diamond conical nanowires to enhance the single-photon count rate. Through the interaction between tightly confined optical mode in nanowires and NV centers, the single-photon lifetime is much shortened and the collection efficiency is enhanced. As a result, the detected single-photon rate can be at 564 kcps, and the total detection coefficient can be 0.8%, which is much higher than that in bulk diamond. Such a nanowire single-photon device with high photon flux can be applied to improve the fidelity of quantum computation and the precision of quantum sensors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
