Abstract
The article reports that officials of national organizations representing foreign-language teachers in the United States have criticized the ideas and planning behind a National Foreign Language Center being established at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington D.C. Officials claim that the center's director Richard D. Lambert had maligned the language-teaching profession by suggesting in a background paper that it was fragmented and disorganized. Also, language teachers are concerned that the center would attract funds needed by other groups.
