The article discusses the ways that the nation of Israel has fueled economic growth through intellectual success. Israel's seven research universities have been making money from technology licensing long before 1980, when the United States' Bayh-Dole Act permitted American universities to monetize their research. The success of Israeli institutions is not only because of the high caliber of scientists and researchers making technological discoveries, but also because faculty members are so adept at patenting and licensing their research.
