The article presents a discussion of the 19th century U.S. southern group known as the Knights of the Golden Circle (KGC), adapted from the book "Knights of the Golden Circle: Secret Empire, Southern Secession, Civil War," by David C. Keehn.

The article focuses on the trip of Harvard graduate John Richard Dennett throught the defeated Confederacy during the Civil War in 1865 in the U.S. It is said that the eight-month journey produced the most vivid set of portraits and depiction of the defeated South.
