The article presents information on the chronology of events related to the field of computer industry. The Association for Computing Machinery will present a program at the AAAS meeting in Washington D.C. in December on "Current Advances Toward Better Computing for Researchers." The Seventh Annual Princeton Conference on Information Sciences and Systems will be held at Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, during March 22-23, 1973. Authors are invited to submit papers describing new advances, applications, and ideas in the fields of computer science, communication theory, system and circuit theory including contributions which explore the application of these and related disciplines to current societal issues. The First International Joint Conference on Pattern Recognition will be held from October 30-November 1, 1973, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C. The conference will cover all aspects of theoretical and applied pattern recognition, including classification theory and complexity, non-parametric methods, image processing, and character recognition.

The ad hoc committee USASI X3.6.7/X3.4.2D will sponsor a one-day symposium on Decision Tables in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on April 21, 1967. The papers to be presented will reflect the current state of the art. The Joint User Group (JUG) of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) will hold an all-day workshop session in Atlantic City on April 17, 1967. This is the third in a series of successful workshops held by JUG. The Instrument Society of America (ISA) has announced that the Exhibit portion of the 22nd Annual ISA Instrument-Automation Conference and Exhibit has been transferred to the Exposition Hall of the International Amphitheater in Chicago. The date, September 11-14, 1967, remain as originally scheduled. The Philadelphia Chapters of the ACM and IEEE Computer Group will jointly sponsor a one-day symposium on Computer Time Sharing at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia on March 9, 1967.

This article reports on the development of a Phone-Card cellular phone with 60 minutes of prepaid airtime by a New Jersey inventor in 2001. A model which costs $9.95 makes outgoing calls only; a $12.99 model accepts incoming calls as well. The phone is based on 22 patents, is made of computer chips implanted in coated paper, and can work on both U.S. and European standards. The phone will be introduced in the fall of 2001.
