WeChat is now deeply ingrained into the daily life of Chinese people. The objectives of this study are to examine the impact of service quality (interaction quality, environment quality, and outcome quality) on WeChat users' satisfaction and to assess the influence of their satisfaction and stickiness on usage intentions. Structural equation modelling was employed to analyze the data which were randomly collected from the four first-tier cities in China. The number of valid observations were 310. The main findings show that environment quality and outcome quality are two important predictors of satisfaction. Users' satisfaction has a positive effect on their stickiness to WeChat and usage intentions. Stickiness is found to positively influence users' intentions for using WeChat services. However, the impact of interaction quality on satisfaction is surprisingly not significant. The mediating role of stickiness between satisfaction and usage intentions is confirmed. The outcomes provide insights into how WeChat can improve its service quality which in turn will enhance users' satisfaction, their willingness to stick to WeChat, and their continuous usage intentions. Task-oriented chatbots are gradually being used across the globe. Most notably, while chatbots have for a long time penetrated users' daily lives in mainland China, Hong Kong is still struggling to improve and promote its chatbot services. To determine whether antecedents of satisfaction and usage intention differ based on different stages of chatbot adoption and development, we conduct a comparative study based on a research model that integrates the Delone and McLean Information System success model and privacy concerns. The model is developed and examined using a mixed-method approach. After conducting focus group interviews (N = 15) in both regions, online surveys were conducted in mainland China (N = 637) and Hong Kong (N = 647), respectively. Based on qualitative exploration, we identified critical factors of perceived quality and privacy concerns. The quantitative findings further illuminate the different roles of the antecedents in the two regions. The results show that usage intention can be positively influenced by satisfaction, and satisfaction can be increased by relevance, completeness, pleasure and assurance in both regions. However, response time and empathy are factors influencing satisfaction only in mainland China. Privacy concerns cannot influence satisfaction in both regions. • A holistic theoretical framework is developed to understand the antecedents of usage intention of task-oriented chatbots. • Availability and response time have different effects in mainland China and Hong Kong. • Hong Kong users place a greater emphasis on information quality compared to mainland China users. • Empathy has a significant effect only in the mainland sample. • Privacy concerns cannot significantly influence user satisfaction in either region. Today, reaching consumers through interactive methods has become one of the primary goals of the brands. As a result of this, smartphones have turned into tools brands can use to start an interaction with consumers. Due to augmented reality (AR)-supported mobile applications, brands can both provide consumers with detailed information about products and services, and also affect consumers' perceptions. The main purpose of this research is to determine the effect of augmented reality use in mobile applications on consumers' behavioral intentions towards the use of the mobile application and perceptions underlying this effect. In this study, by employing the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the effect of augmented reality on behavioral intentions for mobile application use was examined through a structural equation modeling (SEM). Additionally, the effects of the technology anxiety (TA) and consumer novelty seeking (CNS) on perceived augmented reality were also examined. An augmented reality-supported mobile application which makes trying cosmetic products virtually on possible, was used by female consumers (n = 278). The data was collected through a questionnaire. The results indicated that the CNS had a positive and direct effect on perceived augmented reality (PAR); PAR had a positive and direct effect on perceived enjoyment (PE), perceived usefulness (PU), perceived informativeness (PI), and perceived ease of use (PEU). It was also determined that the PE, PU, PI had positive and direct effects on the behavioral intentions to use the application (BIUA). • Consumer novelty seeking positively affects consumers' sense of perceived augmented reality. • Perceived augmented reality positively affects perceived enjoyment and usefulness. • Perceived augmented reality positively affects perceived informativeness and ease of use. • Perceived enjoyment positively affects consumers' behavioral intentions to use AR-supported mobile applications. • Perceived usefulness positively affects consumers' behavioral intentions to use AR-supported mobile applications.
