Abstract

The article discusses the letters exchanged between German physicist and philosopher Georg Christoph Lichtenberg and philosopher Immanuel Kant in the late 18th century. It discusses an aphorism written by Lichtenberg that speaks of representations that depend and do not depend, of which we become conscious. The article dissects the difference between dependence and non-dependence and the meaning and power over representation.
